Winter Fun for Minnesota Dogs

Posted by Omega | Feb 14, 2018

Even hardy Minnesotans can get tired of winter. Consider your dog, though – there must be ways to let it enjoy the winter, right? Here are some options to consider.

Indoor Play Areas

Depending on which side of the Twin Cities you live, there are places to take your dog for indoor fun. Stone Mountain Pet Lodge in Blaine features an indoor dog park on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. from December through March; Apple Valley’s Dog Day Getaway features play groups for small dogs and puppies on occasional Sundays. Be sure to check the respective websites for schedules.

Dog-friendly Shops

You can enjoy a pint with your pup in select Minneapolis brewery taprooms. Beyond enjoying a brew, think other locations starting with a “B” (bookstores and bike shops). Common Good Books and Grand Performance bicycle shop welcome dogs. In fact, the Macalaster-Groveland neighborhood is known for its dog-welcoming atmosphere.

Hiking Trails

Whether you stay in the Twin Cities or venture further north, delightful scenery abounds on our state’s hiking trails. Just be sure to dress appropriately!

Dog Parks

Of course, your dog might be interested in running carefree outdoors, so this directory of Minneapolis dog parks could be useful. The directory even lists dog parks with heated shelters, night lights and separate areas for small dogs.
