Enjoying a Minnesota Spring Break Staycation

Posted by Omega | Mar 20, 2018

If you’re not heading south for this year’s spring break, don’t fret. There’s still plenty to keep your family entertained right here in the Twin Cities. Here are our suggestions.

  • Can Can Wonderland: In the basement of a warehouse on Prior Avenue North in St. Paul lies a spectacular mini golf course. Can Can Wonderland features 18 artist-designed mini golf holes. But wait…there’s more! While you’re there, check out The Boardwalk, featuring fun vintage arcade games. If you’re hungry, check out what Can Can Wonderland calls “the most fair fare this side of the State Fair.”
  • Indoor Water Parks and Pools: Water and spring break do indeed go hand in hand. Whether you splurge at Great Wolf Lodge, where the water park is for hotel guests only, or stay on a tighter budget at Oxford Community Center in St. Paul, there are plenty of ways to splash around in the Twin Cities.
  • Light Rail Brewery and Restaurant Tour: The METRO Blue Line opening in 2004 and the Green Line opening 10 years later spurred plenty of development, including some great watering holes. Check out Thrillist for a handy “Official Light Rail Bar Map of MSP.”
  • Como Park Zoo & Conservatory: Warm air is plentiful in this colorful attraction with exotic plants and animals.
  • Farm Babies at Minnesota Zoo: Speaking of animals, cute happens daily from March 23 to April 30 at the Wells Fargo Family Farm. Piglets, chicks, calves and more will have you cooing in no time.
  • Mall of America: What list would be complete without Mall of America? From Nickelodeon Universe to SEA LIFE Minnesota Aquarium, there’s plenty to do – and don’t forget the shopping, too.

On the flip side, if you’re going out of town for spring break, check out our blog post on protecting your home while you’re away.
