Community Associations Institute Minnesota Chapter Honors David Stendal

The Minnesota chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI-MN) presented David Stendal, founder of Omega Property Management, with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Stendal received the award at last night’s Vision Awards banquet at International Market Square.

 

Stendal founded Omega Property Management, one of the area’s oldest homeowner association management companies, in 1977. He was recognized for his active participation in the industry, including:

• Serving on CAI’s Legislative Action Committee in the early 1990s and being instrumental in the development of the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act, which extended coverage to townhome associations and cooperatives previously not covered by the existing condo statute;
• Serving as president of CAI-MN in 1983-1984;
• Volunteering on the advisory committee of CIC Midwest, a division of Minnesota Multi Housing Association;
• Being honored by CIC Midwest in 2015 for his outstanding contributions; and
• Omega Property Management being named Outstanding Management Company by CIC Midwest in 2015.

 

“David has worked hard to ‘improve the herd’ – his term to improve professionalism in the association management industry,” said Lance Stendal, president of Omega Property Management. “He has written many trade magazine articles and presented numerous seminars on a variety of topics such as: budgeting, understanding financial statements, reserve planning, contracting for ongoing maintenance and major projects, and creating housing improvement areas for associations who need assistance in funding major capital improvements.”

 

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors CAI-MN members who have provided a superior commitment to the advancement of the chapter and the community management industry through leadership, service and dedication to the mission of CAI. It is awarded only in special instances to recognize individuals whose conduct and professionalism model the ideals of the industry. Inductees have contributed substantially to the growth and perpetuation of the chapter through their individual efforts.
