4th of July Events Around the Twin Cities
Attending 4th of July events around the Twin Cities is a favorite tradition of mine – growing up in Minnetonka I especially loved going to Excelsior to watch fireworks from The Commons. With the small-town atmosphere and fireworks over the water that is classic Minnesota right there.

We did a little research on where the best fireworks in the Twin Cities are, based on firework display and activities leading up to the firework showcase. Here are our top three picks:
Red, White, and Boom!
The Red, White, and Boom! fireworks show is the largest in Minnesota. According to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the show attracts about 75,000 people every year! These fireworks can be viewed from the Stone Arch Bridge, Lake Calhoun, Gold Medal Park, or by boat along the Mississippi River. On the morning of July 4, you can participate in a half marathon or 5K along the riverfront. Red, White and Boom! also features great food and live entertainment.
In fact, Minneapolis’ festivities were ranked second in the nation in a recent study by WalletHub.
Eagan’s July 4th Funfest
This Independence Day celebration takes place from July 2 to 4. Traditional Fourth of July activities, like a parade, carnival, and car show, all can be found at Eagan’s July 4th Funfest. The more unique events, like the Red Cross blood drive, and the Texas Hold’em tournament, are just a couple of the events that set Eagan apart as being a top-tier fireworks destination. Fully equipped with food, drinks, live music, and (of course) the fireworks, Eagan is one of the best places for fireworks in the Twin Cities.
Richfield 4th of July Fireworks
“Happy Birthday America” headlines the flyers for this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Richfield. The birthday celebration begins on July 2 with family night (including kiddie parade and movie in the park). What we especially love about Richfield’s celebration is the family-friendly atmosphere. It continues on July 3 with street dancing (known as the Great Richfield Get-Together) and a car show. The festivities finish with a parade before the fireworks on July Fourth.
